For students completing their undergraduate degrees and applying to medical school, one of the most stressful obstacles will be the medical school interview. Interviews come near the end of the application process and they are a crucial factor in determining whether a student is accepted or not.
Being asked to interview is a key step in your acceptance to medical school. Obviously you look good enough on paper for the school to want to meet you in person and to see if you make a good fit. This is where you show them why you are unique and why you would be a good physician. You need to know yourself and you need to prepare - you have one chance to make an impression, don't waste it. There are more than 15,000 positions available in North American schools each year. You need to use your unique experiences to clarify your decision to persue a career in medicine.
The Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) is based on completing a 2 hour circuit of 10, ten- minute interview stations. The objective is similar to the objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) used by medical schools except that it is not medical. Instead, the questions will based on moral, ethical and personal issues. The purpose of the MMI model is to assess characterisitcs such as reliability, responsibility, collegiality, self-directedness, compassion, willingness to work hard, teamwork, altruism, etc.
