Interview coach
Your Key to Successful Interviewing

There is nothing like using the services of an interview coach to become better at the daunting task of a job interview. An interview coach can come in the form of cd's or books found on the internet or it can be an interaction with one or more people. In some cases an interview coach leads a workshop involving several people with the same objective of becoming better at job interviews. At the very best is a one-on-one experience where you work directly with the interview coach and specifically on your needs and goals. An interview coach can also be a simple phone call to a professional prior to or just after an interview as a means to empower and encourage.

A good interview coach will help you to become familiar with the interview process and to really focus on who you are and what you bring to the table. The interview coach will drive you to be more inspired, driven, determined and passionate. There is nothing more important to a job interview than being prepared and your interview coach can make or break your chances of success. An interview coach stress that you will know where you are going so that you don't arrive late to having thought out and be able to answer questions directly and succinctly. According to the interview coach, few people are ever fully prepared for what is one of the most important meetings in life. Interviews are enormously stressful and having the backup of an interview coach will enable you to arrive fully mentally, physically and psychologically prepared.

Your interview coach will show you all the ins and outs of being an ideal candidate. As any interview coach knows, being prepared is your greatest tool in a job interview. Research the company you are interviewing with and your interview coach will advise you to find out what they do, who is doing it, where they are, their product and customer base and where you will be positioned based on the job description. Your interview coach will tell you to go there. Actually go in the door so that on the day of the interview you will be familiar with the surroundings and not feeling disoriented and unfamiliar.

Prepare yourself. This is a major rule for an interview coach. You need to become comfortable with the position that you are pursuing. If it's a position that you already have experience with an interview coach will help you to get better. You need to go through all of the questions that an interview coach believes might be asked and have answers fully formed and readily available. Behavioral questions play a big part in today's interview structure and your interview coach will make sure that you are aware of what these might be and get you to practice answering them. An example of what your interview coach might ask you is "Describe a time when you were faced with a stressful situation that demonstrated your coping skills" or "Give me a specific example of a time when you used good judgment and logic in solving a problem". Questions like these, your interview coach will tell you, allow the interviewer to get an idea of how you react to circumstances. Whether the position is familiar or entirely new to you knowing your strengths and weaknesses is paramount according to your interview coach. Your interview coach will have you develop keywords to describe your strengths and examples as to how you overcome your weaknesses. Having the services of an interview coach is a great way to go over questions and answers and work on your presence until you feel confident and self-assured. Mock interviews are a great tool used by an interview coach to keep you on your toes and groom you to become comfortable with your presentation. In addition to how you express yourself, your interview coach will also comment of your appearance and manner during the mock interview. A good interview coach will advise you to not wait until the night before to plan your wardrobe.

Your interview coach will tell you that overdressing for a job interview goes over better than arriving looking too casual. Make sure you and your clothes are clean and pressed. Your interview coach will urge you to show respect by arriving on time, turn your cell phone off and shake hands with a firm, dry hand. Your body language will say what your words don't and your interview coach will advise you to make sure to display alert and attentive mannerisms.

You only have one chance at an interview so get it right. A good interview coach is your key to success. The more you prepare for an interview, the more knowledge that you have about a company, the job posted and yourself - the more likely you will be the Key Candidate!
